October 13, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians and LDOE Staff,

We have received confirmation of a second grade student testing positive at LES.  Given the circumstances, only the second grade class, with the positive case, will be placed on quarantine.  Those 2nd graders will be taught virtually and they will be tested on Saturday, October 16th, 8:30 – 9, at the Mesita Public Safety Complex.    We ask the parents to take their child for a COVID test if child is quarantined.  The EOC will be contacting the parents of the 2nd graders, who will be required to quarantine beginning this evening. The rest of the LES students will continue with in person learning. Please contact the EOC at 505-328-5682, if you have questions.  Thank you.

We are scheduled to test all the LES students, who are not quarantined, at the LES campus (10/14) in the morning. 

Update:  The LMS students and the fifth grade class, who are currently quarantined, will remain in virtual learning until further notice.  We hope to receive the test results by Saturday.  Once we get the results we will notify you via School Messenger.  Please stay safe.

Dear Parents/Guardians and LDOE Staff,

Effective Wednesday, October 13 all LMS students will be learning virtually. We have received confirmation from the EOC that we have a sixth grade student who has tested positive. As a safety precaution, all LMS students will be learning virtually. The EOC will be reaching out to the parents of the students who will be quarantined and need to get tested for COVID. Contact tracers will be working closely with LMS staff to get student contact information and answer questions and offer resources. As always, we will keep our student data confidential. Please note that LDOE will be providing meals at the regularly identified meal delivery sites and times (8:00 to 9:30), Weds. and Thursday, no meal deliveries on Friday (10/15), non-student day. The grab and go bag will include breakfast and lunch. Please wear a mask and social distance. Meal delivery sites are on our website. Please contact EOC at: 505-328-5682 if you have questions.

We also have a fifth grade student who tested positive at LES. Only the fifth grade class with the positive case will be placed on quarantine. Those 5th graders will be taught virtually and they will be tested on 10/13. The EOC will be contacting the parents of the 5th graders who will be required to quarantine this evening. On Wednesday Oct 13th, we are scheduled to test all the LMS students at the LMS in the morning. LMS students will be tested on 10/13, but they will be tested at the Mesita Public Safety Complex between 1:00 and 4:00 and not at LMS. Please drive your child to the Public Safety Complex for the testing. The DEC students will test at the DEC campus beginning at 8:35, Wednesday (10/13) morning as scheduled.

As a follow up to last night’s message, we needed to make a correction, if you did not receive a call from the EOC contact tracers last night, you do not have to quarantine. LES will remain closed for up to 14 days. All elementary students, LES Staff and all individuals living in the same household are requested to get tested for COVID on Monday (9/20), from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Mesita Public Safety Complex. Today (9/16), LES teachers will be notifying their students regarding virtual learning and instructional guidance. As always, we will keep our student data confidential. Please note that LDOE will be providing meals at the regularly identified meal delivery sites and times (8:00 to 9:30), Monday thru Friday. The grab and go bag will include breakfast and lunch. Dear Parents/Guardians and LDOE LES Staff,

We have received confirmation from the EOC that we have five students who have tested positive at LES.  As per our LES Re-Entry Plan, if two or more students test positive, the school will close for up to 14 days.  All elementary students, LES Staff and all individuals living in the same household are required to quarantine and get tested for COVID on Monday (9/20), from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Mesita Public Safety Complex.  Contact tracers will be working closely with LES staff to get student contact information and answer questions and offer resources.

Tomorrow (9/16), the LES teachers will be notifying their students regarding virtual learning and instructional guidance.  As always, we will keep our student data  confidential.  Please note that LDOE will be providing meals at the regularly identified meal delivery sites and times (8:00 to 9:30), Monday thru Friday.  Please have a sibling, a relative or an adult pickup meals on behalf of our students. The grab and go bag will  include breakfast and lunch.   Please wear a mask and social distance.  Meal delivery sites are on our website.

Laguna Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

September 14, 2021

ANNOUNCEMENT: The POL EOC has identified a positive COVID-19 exposure at the Laguna Middle School. As a precautionary measure, LDOE is enacting the school’s COVID-19 response protocol closing the Laguna Middle School immediately until further notice. LMS staff will be in contact with LMS students concerning virtual learning. (LES is cleared to resume normal school and bus schedule.)

At this time, LMS students along with their household are REQUIRED to quarantine and asked to work closely with LMS staff concerning learning. Parents are asked to monitor their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms. Should any symptoms appear contact the EOC at (505) 328-5682. The EOC contact tracers are working closely with LMS staff to gather contact lists for families, answer parent questions, and offer resources to households affected by this situation.  

Special testing for LMS will be conducted on Monday, September 20th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at the Mesita Public Safety Complex.

The POL EOC and LDOE are working together to prioritize the health & wellness of the students, staffulty, and families. We understand this news will create anxiety. Our commitment to consistent COVID-19 safe practices will continue to be our best defense against the virus. Updates will be provided as they become available. Laguna Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

September 13, 2021

ANNOUNCEMENT: The POL EOC has identified two (2) possible class exposures; one located at the Laguna Elementary School and one at the Laguna Head Start. As a precautionary measure, LDOE has enacted the school’s COVID-19 response protocol for both the LES Second Grade Classroom Rm 140 AND Head Start Mesita Room ONLY.

There is not a confirmed positive in either classroom but we are being proactive to safeguard the children. Both classrooms have been isolated and will be contacted concerning virtual learning until further notice. At this time, families are not required to quarantine and are asked to monitor their child(ren) for symptoms. Should symptoms appear please call the EOC at (505) 328-5682.

If you DO NOT receive a call from our contact tracers, your child is NOT considered to be at risk and have no reason to quarantine your household. The remaining classes at LES and the Head Start are clear to safely resume normal school activities to include COVID-19 Safe Practices. At this time, the priority for LES and Head Start staff is to quickly enact the school COVID-19 response protocol and safely isolate students.
